Lissie's Cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"

Every so often an indie artist will wander into the Top 40 side of the pool to take a disposable pop song and transform it into something more memorable. Lissie's cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" is no exception and she shows why Paste Magazine named her their Best New Solo Artist of 2010 (scroll down the page) with her non-ironic and powerful cover. So without further ado, Lissie's version of "Bad Romance."

Lissie is on tour supporting her first full length album, Catching a Tiger, which is available for download from Fat Possum Records, iTunes and Amazon. Her debut EP, Why You Runnin', is available from Fat Possum Records, iTunes and Amazon. Today's Featured Band -- Marissa Nadler

Today's featured band is Boston-based, indie folk singer Marissa Nadler. She's released several albums and she's currently in the studio working on her fan-financed new album. Her most recent album, 2009's Little Hells, is an excellent introduction to her haunting voice.

The video for the song "Rosary," from the Little Kills album, is the perfect accompaniment to Marissa's stark lyrics and melody. The song is crisp like a cold winter's day and the visuals reinforce that theme: trees devoid of leaves, ice flows on a lake against an overcast sky. It's not to say that the song is cold and dark, but the images do make the viewer want to turn up the heat and put on a sweater.

Check out Marissa Nadler at her website and check back for updates on her forthcoming album. Little Kills is available from Kemado Records, Amazon and iTunes as a CD and as a download. Her entire catalog is available for download at iTunes and Amazon.
